The provisions of the elders call for all dragons to settle their differences in formal combat. While most of the powerful dragons leave the actual battles of domain conflict to their bond-mates and younger clan kin, there are times when the formal challenges are issued and accepted. This is called the Challenge of Claw and wing. In formal combat, two dragons meet above the battle grounds, in full sight of their peers. According to the rules of formal combat, dragons must remain airborne from the moment the battle begins. The first combatant to land, for any reason, is declared the loser. In addition, the only weapons allowed in formal combat are a dragon's own claws and its wings, and its special abilities--no spells, fire breathing, or mind magics are allowed. A challenger who breaks these rules automatically loses.
